Finding the right therapist shouldn’t be left to chance—or Google. At Family Consultants of Westport (FCW), we guide you with clarity, expertise, and care from the start. Let us guide you toward the care that truly fits who you are and what you need.
Get Connected with the Right Clinician
Finding a therapist can be confusing and time-consuming, especially when you are already struggling, are overwhelmed, and are not sure where to even begin.
From long waitlists to endless directories and mismatched providers, the process is often riddled with obstacles and full of unnecessary hurdles, making it nearly impossible for one to navigate it effectively and successfully.
That’s why Lauren Barnett, a seasoned mental health professional, founded Family Consultants of Westport: to offer a smarter, more effective way forward.
Backed by decades of experience, FCW provides expert guidance, clinical insight, and meaningful connection—so you can move ahead with clarity, confidence, and the right support from the very beginning.
With over 30 years in the mental health field, Lauren Barnett has worked in schools, hospitals, summer camps, and community settings.
Her extensive experience helping others through emotional and behavioral challenges has refined a clinically attuned, intuitive ability to connect with adults, parents, and children, offering heartfelt insight and targeted support across a wide range of psychological needs.
She has spent years building and curating relationships with a broad spectrum of clinicians and mental health professionals, enabling her to weed through the layers and types of care and make unique and perfectly suited introductions and matches.
Lauren firmly believes that therapy is not a blanket solution. Not every therapist is best for every client and all psychological issues. Sometimes the right help requires some creativity and an objective perspective.
Because when the clinician is the right match for you, treatment can be incredibly successful.
Lauren received her MA in Counseling from NYU, is licensed and certified in CT, has two young adult daughters, and lives in Westport, CT, with her husband and lazy dog. She recently completed her first book, expanding her mission to support people across life's stages and challenges.
At FCW, we don’t just offer names—we offer carefully vetted, thoughtfully matched introductions.
Our process is comprehensive, strategic, and deeply human.
Lauren acts as your behind-the-scenes partner, learning about your needs and goals, then connecting you with qualified mental health professionals
who align with your personality, mindset, and mental health goals.
In a fascinating CBS News Sunday Morning feature, Lauren Barnett dives into the question of whether our attention spans are truly getting shorter — and what that means for society. The segment explores how technology, multitasking, and modern life shape our ability to focus.
